设计之旅（五）：涟椅&竹语

对于孟买紧急水灾状况的调查让设计师们发现了现代大城市的复杂性，与之相关的问题从安全饮水到洪涝灾害层出不穷。当人们发现日益增建的大型基础设施也并未起到应有的作用时，来自交通、卫生、居住等领域的人们开始尝试一种新的思考方式：在孟买有限的可用空间里集合不同的功能设施，这些计划并不局限于某个解决方案，而是希望能和孟买当地共同践行并进一步发展。蓄水椅由何新城建筑事务所（MARS Architects）与宝马古根海姆实验室(BMW Guggenheim Lab)联合开发，是一系列可持续城市策略的一部分。这是一款可以收集和储存雨水用于室外浇灌的户外家具，独立于公共供水系统。第一批蓄水椅安装在孟买各处的公园里。

The Water Bench was created by Mars Architects as the first in a series of design solutions for the BMW Guggenheim Lab. The goal was to develop products and installations for public spaces in dense urban environments that work together to have an impact at the scale of the city. The Water Bench embodies this vision of sustainability through multi-functionality, by combining furniture with rainwater harvesting and storage.  The result is an outdoor bench that increases water independence at the local level while providing an attractive and durable place to sit and socialize.  It is capable of immediate implementation into a variety of urban contexts and requires no connection to wider infrastructure. The first benches have been installed in parks around Mumbai.
